Musical Missionary is a nonprofit charity and electronic music record label dedicated to providing music and arts education to underprivileged youth. Musical Missionary accepts donated music from accomplished electronic music producers and releases it under the Musical Missionary label to raise money for this cause. According to founder David Collado, “Musical Missionary was born from a passion to promote quality electronic music artists and to feed that energy back into the development of future artists.”
To date, Musical Missionary has received dozens of donated tracks from talented EDM producers such as Chris Fortier, Stryke, Alland Byallo, Pointbender, Darren DuVall, and MikeZ among others. The label’s debut release, “Between the Streets EP” by Darren DuVall was released on January 26th, and can be purchased on iTunes, Amazon, Beatport, Traxsource, Juno Download, Stompy and other online music outlets. Musical Missionary’s second release, “Left Brain EP” by Pointbender, will be available April 6th and releases by Chris Fortier, MikeZ and Alland Byallo will follow soon after.
Profits from label sales will be used to sponsor music lessons for deserving students who would otherwise be unable to afford the lessons. Musical Missionary has established a relationship with SoBe Institute of the Arts, an after-school music and arts program that allows members of the community to sponsor students who need financial assistance. Musical Missionary sponsored a student during the program’s Fall 2009 season and plans to expand sponsorship activity for this upcoming Summer season and beyond.
Musical Missionary is seeking electronic music producers interested in donating original unreleased tracks and/or remix work for future releases. For information on how to contribute, or for more information about Musical Missionary’s music, mission and people, visit www.musicalmissionary.com
